My Bio
I grew up on a farm in the Alice district of the Eastern Cape. I ran around with my two older brothers and the farmer workers' children.
We spent all day out in the veld and spoke fluent Xhosa and we knew the names of all the plants and animals in Xhosa before we knew the English names. I was very intrigued by nature from a very young age and with an inquiring mind, I observed the tiny creatures like caterpillars, bees, spiders and millipedes very closely. I have always been interested in birds, reptiles and amphibians as well and have always enjoyed finding out their names. My love of nature photography started when I got my first little Instamatic camera at the age of 13. Even in those days, I preferred taking photos of animals than of people. I have a passion for bird photography, as well as macro photography and am fortunate to have the right cameras and lenses for the different types of nature photography. I find being out in nature with my cameras very therapeutic!
